The biggest reason I've only 500 rounds through it was the normal outdoor range I was using closed down for remodeling fall 2018 and is still closed (Spring Valley here in SW Ohio). I had 2 USGI Inlands here so I could get my "Carbine fix" as I wanted while I waited for my FA. That was the advantage I had when I ordered mine around this time 2018 (Labor Day Sale, back when we still found sales ). You'll find yourself shooting the FA alot so you can keep the Underwood in as good as shape as possible. If they ever do another sale and I can get the money I'd be really tempted to buy another.Īctually if you didn't already own a Carbine then getting the Underwood is a smart move IMO. I would have snagged them and flipped 1 but at the time wasn't sure my company was going to stay open (it did) so I didn't want to spend money I might need. The most recent was right at the beginning of the Kung Flu, matched pair at $2500 for both!!. I have seen them listed 3-4 times since I bought mine this past year. My suggestion, look on Gunbroker and the EE. Sadly, it looks like FA did a price increase. LMT does their receiver's and bolts so I would imagine their dealing with supply issues same as every other gun maker right now. They were doing holiday sales all last year, varying what went on sale but that stopped when the current panic hit The FA, 2 USGI Inlands and a "Howa" Made in Japan model.Īs to 10% off sales, they did one back before the current panic but I wouldn't expect one soon. I was so impressed with it I had FA work over my 3 other Carbines and install the same type barrel on them. I got the upgraded chrome lined barrel when I bought mine. FA uses the same parkerizing as USGI WWII Carbines so expect the same. This is the only wear mine had when I got it, test firing wear on the bolt. The quality is excellent, better in some aspects to USGI models off the production line.
